AKRIS

Founded in 1922, family-owned Swiss fashion house Akris got its start making polka dot aprons designed by Alice Kriemler-Schoch.

Using local fabrics from St. Gallen—a leading textile hub known for its exquisite cotton and embroidery—Alice was soon dressing the region’s most stylish women.  In 1944, Alice’s son Max joined the family business. He named the house Akris, after the initials of her name and helped grow ready-to-wear as well as collaborating with Parisian couture houses like Ted Lapidus and Givenchy.

Then in the late 1980s, her grandson Albert Kriemler took over and turned Akris into the brand into the international symbol that’s known today for its sculptural minimalism and rich textiles inspired by nature.

MAKE YOUR MARK, the 2019 FALL/WINTER COLLECTION of Akris captures Richard Artschwager’s All in Good Time horsehair exclamation points and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s Farbtafel prints of the early 1800s, which look remarkably modern 200 years later.

A collection with a concept to “Feel well in” is brought this this Fall collection.
